The term “priest” refers to a spiritual leader who is authorized to carry out the sacred rituals of a religion, particularly acting as a mediator between human beings and a god or goddess.

The concept of a priesthood grew gradually within the beginning of the Christian church when bishops, and later elders called “presbyters,” began to perform certain priestly duties mostly for the celebrations of the Eucharist.

Priests are part of a historical Christian tradition that is based on liturgical worship. This is a tradition that places a lot of accent on the celebration of the Eucharist also known as Mass.

The pastor serves as the head of the Christian congregation. They also offer advice and advice to those in the congregation or community.

Pastors must behave like shepherds, taking care of the flock. This is a way to teach.

Differentialities Between Priest and Pastor.

  3. Certain Protestant religious groups have women appointed as pastors. Priests within those in the Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholic customs must be male.

Training and Education to Become a Pastor.

A non-denominational or Protestant church pastor is responsible for many responsibilities in addition to preparing sermons and conducting church services.

Pastoral Responsibilities Include.

  1. Preparing for weddings, baptisms, and funerals.
  2. The congregation’s counselors in their times of need.
  3. Organising community outreach events.
  4. Reaching out to new members.
  5. Working with community leaders from the public and private sectors.
  6. Supervising church finances and church business

There are a variety of other prerequisites for pastors who are interested in becoming pastors in addition to completing courses at a college. This includes:

* Successfully completing an internship

* Attending seminars

* Passing various exams

* Mentoring with an instructor

Training and Education to Become a Priest.

The process of becoming a priest usually begins with the family in which children go through a process of discernment that involves seeking guidance on an issue. The child is guided through the process of discernment with the assistance of the family as well as the priest. The priesthood isn’t an option to be made lightly. It is usually an ongoing process for many years.

Priesthood is reserved for Baptized, confirmed, and active Catholic men who wish for service to God as well as His beloved people. Priests are not allowed to get married, divorced, consider themselves to be part belonging to the LGBTQ community, or have been exiled from another priestly training program.

  4. Being a partaker of the Catholic faith for a minimum of two years
