When Igbos were in control of the resources of the Ijaw nation they did not want separation. They enacted the unitary system of government. But When they lost control of the resources from Ijaw land through the power play of the 60s they started agitating for separation.
When the Hausa/Fulanis were in control of the resources from Ijaw land they did not want to hear any discussion on separation. But Now that they are loosing control of the resources from Ijaw land, they are very ready for separation.
The Yorubas have benefited most from the resources from Ijaw land by controlling the management of the resources from the back door. Now that they are in control of the resources of Ijaw land they will not listen to any discussion on separation. Nigeria must be kept as one while they loot the Ijaw land dry.
The major factor that unite these three major ethnic groups in fighting for the unity of Nigeria is when they are in control of the natural resources from Ijaw land. Any one of them that looses control of the resources from our land begin to threaten separation and ready to bring down the roof once they loose control of the natural resources of Ijaw land and the Niger Delta. That is what is playing out. Their only interest in one Nigeria is if they are in control of the natural resources from our land.
When will Ijaw nation that has never been in control of its natural resources rise up and demand/ seize control of our natural resources or threaten separation and ready to bring down the roof like these major ethnic groups are doing?
How long will we continue to allow others toy with our destiny and future while our sell out leaders pick the crumbs from the masters table?
