Who is Andy Dick?
Andy Dick, fully known as Andrew Roane Dick, is a famous American professional comedian, actor, musician, and television and film producer. He is professionally known as a comic and his first regular television role was on the short-lived but influential Ben Stiller Show. Dick had a long-running stint on NBC’s NewsRadio and was a supporting character on Less than Perfect in the mid-1990s. He had his own show, The Andy Dick Show, on MTV for a short time. Andy is popular for his outlandish behavior on a number of Comedy Central Roasts and other appearances, He is additionally recognized for his eccentric behavior, struggles with drug addiction, and many sexual misconduct allegations and arrests.

Television career
Andy began his TV comedy career as a cast member on the sketch comedy program The Ben Stiller Show. The show aired on the Fox Network from September 1992 to January 1993. He then appeared as ”Donnie the CBS Page Who Likes to Suck Up”. on the third night of David Letterman‘s new CBS show, during which he gave a watch to Letterman in 1993. The host then gave him a pencil, leading him to cry and then walk backstage to much applause. In 1994, he played the part of Pepe the stylist in the episode ”Maggie the Model” on The Nanny. Dick starred as Zachary Smart, the son of Maxwell Smart and Agent 99, in the Get Smart Fox television remake. He then starred together with Kieran Culkin on the short-lived NBC summer television series Go Fish
Andy has been a series regular on various sitcoms for their entire duration such as NewsRadio on NBC (1995-1999). He played accident-prone reporter Matthew Brock and on also on the ABC sitcom Less than Perfect as Owen Krinsky. Later, together with colleagues and producers, he developed a show on MTV titled The Andy Dick Show in 2001. The show concluded following three seasons in 2003.
2004-present
He then starred in a satirical reality television show, also on MTV, titled The Assistant in 2004. It spoofed themes and scenes from The Apprentice, The Bachelor, Queer Eye for the Straight Gut, and Survivor, among others. Dick also had a guest shot on Star Trek: Voyager as the Emergency Medical Hologram Mark II in ”Message in a Bottle”.
Andy competed in the 8th season of Celebrity Poker Showdown, completing in last place, after Robin Tunney, Christopher Meloni, Macy Gray, and Joy Behar. He was roasted on The Howard Stern Show by Artie Lange, Reverend Bob Levy, Lisa Lampanelli, Shuli, Benjy Bronk, Sal Governale, Colin Quinn, Greg Fitzsimmons, Dave Attell, and Yucko the Clown on May 16, 2007. Dick appeared on episode No. 3 of The Real World: Hollywood in 208 to tell cast members that they would be taking improv classes. He was also a contestant on Season 16 of Dancing With the Stars in 2013. Dick was partnered with former troupe member, Sharna Burgess, and placed seventh in the competition. He was also on ABC’s Celebrity Wife Swap on July 14, 2013.
Film career
One of Dick’s earliest film roles was a fictional version of himself in the movie adaptation of the video game Double Dragon. He portrayed himself in the mockumentary The Making of… And God Spoke in 1993. Dick also starred together with MTV comedian Pauly Shore in the 1994 war comedy movie In the Army Now. He had a supporting role together with Luke Wilson and Jack Black on Bongwater in 1997. He played Wilson’s gay friend who gives him a place to stay following his house burning down to the ground. Dick then played one of Dr. Claw’s henchmen in the film Inspector Gadget in 1999.
Dick made a cameo role in the motion picture Dude, Where’s My Car? in 2000. The same year, he appeared in the teenage comedy movie Road Trip, playing a motel clerk. He then made a cameo in Ben Stiller’s comedy Zoolander as Olga the Masseuse in 2001, (he also made a cameo in Stiller’s directorial debut, Reality Bites in 1994). Andy was featured in the band Ash’s music video ”Envy” as a taxi cab driver in 2002.
2003-present
He appeared in Will Ferrell’s Old School as a gay sex education teacher and as a villainous Santa in the film The Hebrew Hammer in 2003. Andy was then featured in the documentary The Aristocrats in 2005. In 2006, Dick appeared in the movie Employee of the Month as Lon, a nearsighted optician. He provided the voice of Mombo in 2007’s Happily N’Ever After and the voice of Bongo in Hoodwinked! Dick’s feature film directing breakout was the 2006 movie Danny Roane: First Time Director. He revealed on his official website that he had completed writing a script for a film starring his alter-ego Daphne Aguilera titled, Daphne Aguilera: Get into It in late December 2008.

Andrew Thomlinson was born in Charleston, South Carolina to his parents. Dick was adopted at birth by Allen Dick and Sue Dick and was named Andrew Roane Dick. Dick later reprised his role as Nuka for The Lion Guard TV series in November 2016. He featured as the voice of Dilbert’s assistant in the Dilbert animated series in 1999. Andy also was the voice of the recurring character ”Monkey Man” on the Nickelodeon TV series Hey Arnold! He provided the voice of Mr. Sheepman and several other characters in the short-lived animated series Clone High in 2002.

Dick has been arrested numerous times for various reasons throughout his life. He was initially arrested in 1999, after driving into a utility pole in Hollywood and charged with possession of cocaine, cannabis, and drug paraphernalia. Dick was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and hit-and-run driving, to which he pleaded guilty and completed an 18-month drug diversion program. He was then arrested for indecent exposure in December 2004 following exposing his buttocks at a local McDonald’s. Dick has been later arrested many times for drug possession, sexual battery, sexual abuse, misdemeanor sexual battery, and felony assault with a deadly weapon. Recently on May 10, 2022, he was arrested for felony sexual battery of a man in Orange County, California.
