Antony Starr is a famous actor from New Zealand best known for his starring role in Amazon Prime Video’s original series The Boys which is based on the comic book series based on the same name. In the series, he plays the superhero Homelander. In his own country, he is widely known for his dual role as twins Jethro and Van West in New Zealand’s comedy/drama Outrageous Fortune and Billy Newwodd in Without a Paddle. Antony Starr Career

He began his professional acting career with a small part in Shortland Street and guest roles in Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys in the early 1990s. He then was cast in Mercy Peak in 2001 as Todd Van der Velter, a guest role that he had throughout the show’s three seasons. In addition, he received a role as the brother of long-running character Waverly Wilson in the soap opera Shortland Street. Since then his television credits have included a core cast role in Kids’ series Hard Out and guest roles in P.E.T. Detectives and Street Legal as well as a brief period in Serial Killers.

Because of playing twins Van and Jethro West, he won the 2007 Air New Zealand Screen Award for Performance by an Actor, the award for Best Actor at the Qantas Television Awards, and Best Actor at the Asian TV Awards in the same year. In addition, he was also voted for Best Actor in the 2007 TV Guide Best on the Box People’s Choice Awards by Readers of the TV Guide. At the inaugural Qantas Television Awards, he was named Best Actor for his role in Outrageous Fortune. During the production of the first series of Outrageous Fortune, in early 2006 Starr juggled filming for Toa Fraser’s debut feature No. 2. Between series two and three of Outrageous Fortune, he worked with his friends on collaborative short films. In 2005, he appeared on stage in the second edition of Sex with Strangers. He then performed in two theatre productions in 2004: Closer at Auckland’s Silo Theatre and Sex with Strangers directed by Colin Mitchell at the Herald Theatre. Also between the filming of Outrageous Fortune seasons five and six he starred in the feature film After the Waterfall and the tile feature Spies and Lies. Starr joined the cast of the Australian police drama Rush in 2011, where he played Sergeant Charlie Lewis. Also, he will have a role in the second series of Lowdown. From 2013 to 2016, he starred in the television series Banshee.
