Who Is Charles Stanley?

Charles Stanley (Charles Frazier Stanley ) is a pastor of First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. He has been a senior pastor for over 51 years. In addition, he is the founder and the president of In Touch Ministries. In Touch Ministries usually spread his sermons through television and served two one-year terms as a president of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1984 until 1986.

In 1969, he joined the staff of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, After that, he became a senior pastor in 1971. Being a young pastor he was provided with a motivational book known as Think and Grow Rich. One year later he launched a half-hour religious television show known as Chapel Hour 1972. Furthermore, in 1977 he founded In Touch Ministries with an aim to lead people globally into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and to make the local churches stronger.

The show was translated into 50 languages, in the US In Touch is aired by more than 500 radio stations, 300 television stations,s and a few satellite networks such as The Inspiration Network ( INSP) and Trinity Broadcasting Network. Moreover, all of his sermons, together with other audio and video programming, are on the In Touch website.

In addition, In Touch Ministries also publishes In Touch magazine. Tv, television, magazines, and new platforms are all used by In Touch to spread the Gospel as soon as possible. Since he possessed a Living Bible, Dr. Stanley used the name In Touch with his ministry. Furthermore, Charles was elected as the new president of the Southern Baptist Convention.

One of his most quoted beliefs is “Obey God and leave all the repercussions to Him,” which he attributes to his ancestor, George Washington Stanley. Furthermore, in his book Courageous Faith: My Story From a Life of Obedience, he stated that “Granddad told me, Charles if God tells you to run your head through a brick wall you head for the wall and when you get there, God will make a hole for it.”

Get It Around Show

In 2005, Stanley asked Lisa Ryan to co-host “Get It Around,” a question-and-answer series that aired following the sermon and advertising. The Q&A section was designed to help the listeners better understand the sermon’s material by using questions that a typical listener would pose. However, the segment was discontinued in late 2006 and replaced by Charles only. At the begging of 2007, he began using the last episode of In Touch in TV and Radio shows on his ” 30 Life Principles.” Some of the related materials and teaching are available online through In Touch.org’s ” Life Principles Center.”

Charles wrote in 2009, “I started applying the values from that book to my job as a pastor, and they succeeded! …… I’ve read Think and Grow Rich every year for years to remind myself that God’s reality is not limited to one profession. It can be used for a variety of tasks and ministries.” Adding to his work in Christianity ministry, Charles is an avid photographer. Most of his work as a photographer is featured in In Touch magazine. Moreover, some other printed material by the ministries like the In Touch wall and desk calendars.

In 2017, Stanley elected Anthony George as the senior pastor of First Baptist Church, with the intention of succeeding him at some stage in the future. Stanley announced his resignation as senior pastor and transitioned to pastor emeritus on September 13, 2020. Stanley, on the other hand, has confirmed that he does not believe in retirement and will continue to serve at In Touch Ministries.
