Who Is Cillian Murphy?

Cillian Murphy is an Irish actor best known for his lead role ” Tommy Shelby” in the series Peaky Blinders. Apart from acting, he began his career as the lead singer, pianist, and songwriter for a rock band called The Son of Mr. Green Genes.

In addition, in the 1990s he declined a recording deal and he started acting on stage and short films.

Early Career

1996-2001

In September 1996, he landed an audition at Corcadorca Theater Company. In order to get this audition, he had to pressure Pat Kiernan. After he got the audition, he made his professional acting debut on the stage, playing the part of a volatile Cork teenager in Enda Walsh’s Disco Pigs.

While Walsh was describing how he met Murphy and discovered him, he said “There was something about him that made you say, “My God?” He was extremely enigmatic, and he would go into a room with great presence and make you go, “My God.” Moreover, he went ahead and added, “it had nothing to do with those bleeding eyes that everyone is always talking about.”
