After finishing his primary education, Dag Heward-Mills enrolled at the Achimota School in Accra for secondary schooling.

Dag Heward-Mills started the church from one classroom in Korle-Bu, the School of Hygiene, Korle-Bu, and with a minimum of 15 people.
Despite his arduous academic work and numerous persecutions, Heward-Mills observed his church grow until it was now filled with people in the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Canteen.
As the ministry continued to grow the size of its halls, larger and larger ones were required. They purchased an old cinema corridor in the Korle-Gonno region and mobilized their members to remodel the structure.
The structure would later prove to be the first of several Cathedrals that were built in conjunction with the Accra town Accra which Dag Heward-Mills would design and construct.
The congregation saw a rapid development until, finally in 2006, Dag Heward-Mills was commissioned to develop the construction of one of the largest congregations of churches that are located within Africa; The Qodesh.
Bishop Dag Heward-Mills was the founding patron of the National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches and was the chairman of the association until August 2003.
