Early life and education
Adesiyan hails from Ibadan, Oyo State. She attended Time and Tide International School, Ibadan City academy, Saint Anne’s School, and Oriwu College Ikorodu for both her elementary and post-elementary school. She holds both a bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts and a Diploma in Law from Olabisi Onabanjo University. Adesiyan studied filmmaking and directing at the New York Film Academy.
HER STORY
Funke claims to have made her first one million naira as a seventeen-year-old. Two years later, she had built her own house.
Funke started out as a model at the age of 13 and by 14 she had begun running her own business. This was what produced her first one million naira and led her to build her first house while she was still a teenager.
Funke’s story doesn’t end there. At 24 she already had three degrees, two diplomas, and a degree. Funke would later get involved in politics as a 25-year-old when she ran a presidential campaign for Mallam Shekarau. It would be recalled that Ibrahim Shekarau was one of the presidential candidates in the 2011 Nigerian general elections. Shekarau was a former governor of Kano State and an ex-minister of Education
After the election, Funke opened a fashion outfit in her hometown but a series of unfortunate events made her lose almost all of her investments.
It was a major setback. But Funke found her way back to the top and she’s currently running several successful companies.

Funke Adesiyan in POLITICS
In 2015, Funke contested under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party for a seat at the Oyo State House of Assembly to represent Ibadan South East. She was quite excited when she scaled the primaries and she took to social media to express her delight.
But she lost the election along with a substantial part of her wealth. Nonetheless, she still managed to throw a party after the elections as an opportunity to thank her fans for their support.

Funke owns a fashion outfit, La’venette. According to her, all the clothes she wore in the movie, Eti Keta was designed by her.

Funke dated the popular Yoruba actor and producer, Saidi Balogun. According to her, she was drawn to him because of his good heart. She noticed he was quite straightforward in his dealings with people and was always willing to help those around him.
He also had a great sense of humor which she really liked but unknown to her the actor had some major issues. This would later manifest and subsequently lead to the end of her romantic relationship with him.
According to Funke, it was domestic abuse that broke her relationship with the filmmaker. It began not too long after their relationship became official. The first time it happened, it was in the middle of an argument and the next thing was a punch to her face. He claimed it was just a mistake and it would never happen again but unknown to Funke, this was just the beginning of what would be many months of domestic abuse.
Saheed would beat her over every little thing but she never thought of leaving him because he was always apologetic after his behavior.
But when she noticed the abuse wasn’t going away anytime soon and that she could probably lose her life, she had no choice but to call it quits with him.
Interestingly, the abuse didn’t stop after their relationship ended as he began monitoring her movement and he didn’t hesitate to attack her a few more times. At some point, Funke had to employ bodyguards just to be safe from him.
Her break up with him came at a time when Eti Keta was about to be premiered. It was actually four days to the premiere when she called him and told him she was ending their relationship for good. Funke also starred in Eti Keta.
Career in Entertainment
Acting
Adesiyan started acting professionally in 2003.
Politics
In 2011, Funke Adesiyan joined active politics when she became the southwest coordinator for Ibrahim Shekarau‘s presidential campaign. In 2014, she became the second entertainer to win a primary election, after Desmond Elliot. She contested but lost in the 2015 Oyo State House of Assembly election under the People’s Democratic Party.
In 2019, Adesiyan was appointed as the personal assistant on domestic and social events to Aisha Buhari.
