Who Is Mark Gordon?
Mark Gordon is an American politician currently serving as the 33rd governor of Wyoming. Moreover, he’s a member of the Republican Party. Prior to being governor, he was serving as the state treasurer. He was appointed by Governor Matt Mead on October 26th, 2012 to occupy a vacant left by the death of Joseph Meyer.

2008 election
During the 2008, congressional race, Mark was competing for the Republican ticket. However, he lost in the primary which was held by Barbara who was retiring. In addition, he lost the seat to Cynthis Lummis, also a former state treasurer and the wife of Alvin Wiederspahn, a Democratic and former state representative.
In addition, former U.S. senator Alan K. Simpson of Cody, a moderate Republican, supported Gordon’s campaign. However, he did not endorse him openly since he was also close with Lummis. 2018 election
After he lost in 2008, he did not seek Cynthia Lummis’s seat in the United States House of Representatives in 2016. However, he decided to run for governor of Wyoming in 2018. He went ahead and defeated Democratic state legislator Mary Throne in the Republican primary on August 21 and the general election on November 6. Gordon took office on January 7, 2019.

As a governor, he approved a budget on April 2, 2021, which was enacted by the Wyoming legislature that reduced $430 million rather than the $500 million. He went ahead and proposed, owing to improved budget predictions for 2021 and supplementary funds from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan Act. Moreover, the budget that he signed decreased the amount cut to the University of Wyoming and also the Wyoming Department of Health.
