Maya Khabira Rudolph is an American famous actress, comedian, and singer. She became a cast member on Saturday Night Live 2000where she played supporting roles in films such as 50 First Dates (2004), A Prairie Home Companion (2006), and Idiocracy (2006).
In 2007 after leaving Saturday Night Live, she appeared in films including; Grown Ups (2010), Bridesmaids (2011), Grown Ups 2 (2013), Inherent Vice (2014), Sisters (2015), CHiPs (2017), Life of the Party (2018), and Wine Country (2019). She met future Saturday Night Live cast member Will Forte, while she was in the improv troupe, The Groundings. She then went on to join the cast of Saturday Night Live in May 2020 as a featured player from the final three episodes of the 1999-2000 season until 2007. Over the years, she has made several cameo appearances. Since the 45th-season premiere, Maya has occasionally portrayed Vice President Kamala Harris, a performance acknowledged by Harris. Moreover, she has made appearances in many other television shows including the CBS medical drama series City of Angels and Chicago Hope.
She has also had small parts in Chuck & Buck, Gattaca, As Good as It Gets, Duplex and Duets; she was also a music supervisor for Duets. In 2006, came her first prominent film role with A Prairie Home Companion. Earlier in 2005, she had co-starred with Luke Wilson in Mike Judge’s sci-fi comedy Idiocracy, however, that film was shelved until September 2006 and then only given a limited release. In animated films, she has guest-starred as Rapunzel in the DreamWorks animated film Shrek the Third. Maya also guest-starred in The Simpsons episode “The Homer of Seville” as Julia. A Musical Career
In addition to television and film roles, she was a backing singer (1995 to 1999) before joining Saturday Night Live. Moreover, she was a keyboardist in the band the Rentals with whom she toured briefly. She has made appearances in the music videos for the songs “Waiting” and “Please Let That Be You”. In addition, she has sung backing vocals for “Barcelona” and “My Head Is in the Sun” both from the album Seven More Minutes.
