Who Is Romesh Ranganathan?
Romesh Ranganathan (Jonathan Romesh Ranganathan) is a British actor, stand-up comedian, and presenter. During the 2013 Edinburgh Comedy Award, he was nominated for Best Newcomer. In addition, he has also made several appearances on television comedy panel shows.
Together with Rachael Riley and Ben Miller he co-hosted Rocket Science on ITV in 2016. He is well known for his deadpan and regular self-deprecating comedy. Previously, he regularly participated in The Apprentice: You Fired !. He completed his first big tour in 2016, where he performed live in huge stages such as Hammersmith Apollo. In 2018 he took over from Jack White as a regular panelist on A League of Their Own. It has hosted comedy shows Judge Romesh and The Ranganation. His autobiography is entitled Straight Outta Crawley.
Career
He began his career as a comedian while still working as a mathematic teacher. In March 2014, he started hosting the Newsjack on Radio 4 Extra, he has also appeared on The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice in 2014, where he promoted his homemade vegan chocolate brownies. He has appeared as a guest on some episodes of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
In addition, he has also appeared on Would I Lie to You?, Holby City, Soccer AM, Russell Howard’s Good News, Sweat the Small Stuff, The Last Leg, among others. He took part in the first series of Taskmaster and he made appearances in the third episode of Jon Richardson Grows Up. Furthermore, he has also performed at The Royal Variety Performance in 2015. He hosted a series for BBC Three, Asian Provocateur in 2015, where he traveled to Sri Lanka to tour his ancestral country.
After that, his second tour series was broadcast in October 2016, when Romesh and his mother traveled to North America to meet some of his relatives. In 2015, he joined The Apprentice: You’re Fired! as a usual panelist. The program was a spin-off from The Apprentice.
Moreover, in December 2015 he made an appearance in Josh Widdicombe’s sitcom, Josh. After that, he co-hosted It’s Not Rocket Science in 2016, which was a new entertainment series for ITV together Ben Miller and Rachel Riley. In 2017, he joined John Lloyd as the eleventh co-presenter of the BBC Radio series The Museum of Curiosity.
Joining A-League
Romesh joined the Season 13 of A League of Their Own in 2018. The season was starred in his own 10- episode documentary known as Just Another Immigrant, which aired on Showtime on June 8, and hosted Judge Romesh, an Unscripted television show in which he determines the outcome of court cases between a claimant and a defendant. Furthermore, he starred in his own series known as Misadventure of Romesh Ranganathan, where he has rarely visited locations around the globe, with subsequent series aired in 2019 and 2020Straight. Outta Crawley, Ranganathan’s autobiography, was released in 2018.
