Satish Chandra Kaushik was a famous Indian professional actor, director, producer, comedian, and screenwriter.
Satish Kaushik Career
As a movie actor, Kaushik was noted for his roles as ”Calendar” in Mr. India, as Pappu Pager in Deewana Mastana, and as ”Chanu Ahmed” in Sarah Gavron’s British movie Brick Lane (2007). He then won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award twice, in 1990 for Ram Lakhan and in 1997 for Saajan Chale Sasurai. As a theatre actor, Kayshik’s most popular role was that of ”Willy Loman” in the Hindi-language play, Salesman Ramial, a version of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. He wrote dialogues for Kundan Shah’s comedy classic Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron (1983).
Kaushik’s 2009 movie Teree Sang, starring Ruslaan Mumtaz and Sheena Shahabadi, explores issues of teen pregnancy. His first movie as a director was Sridevi’s Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993). Kaushik’s second film was Prem (1995), which was supposed to be Tabu’s inaugural movie. Both of the films were box office disasters. Kaushik went on to make movies and got his first hit with Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain in 1999. He then co-wrote and anchored a TV countdown show, Philips Top Ten. For the show, he earned the Screen Videocon Award.
2005-2023
Satish directed Arjun Rampal, Zayed Kan, and Amisha Patel in Vaada in 2005. In 2007, he alongside Anupam Kher, who had been his classmate at NSD, launched a new movie company called Karol Bagh Productions. The company’s first movie, Teree Sang, was directed by Satish Kaushik. Kaushik’s following work was to be based on the life of Tansen, one of the Navaratna in Ajbar the Great’s court, and was to be produced by Rajshri Productions. The role of Tansen will be portrayed by Abhishek Bachchan, and the soundtrack will be composed by Ravindra Jain; the script for the movie being completed. He was working to promote Haryana’s movie industry and was committed to making 5 movies there.
Satish was then cast in the lead role of SAB TV’s new program The Great Indian Family Drama, produced by Contiloe Productions, as Nawaab Jung Bahadur. He then decided to make a sequel to his hit film Tere Naam (2003). Kaushik also played the role of Tayaji in the movie Udta Punjab (2016).
Chandigarh film city project
He was a partner in the Chandigarh film city project with the real estate company Parsavnath Developers. They purchased a 30-acre (12 ha) plot in Sarangpur Village, Chandigarh for little money, but they were forced to give up the project after foul play was exposed by the media.
Death
On March 9, 2023, he died of a heart attack in Gurugram at the age of 66. In his last Instagram post, Kaushik was seen celebrating Holi 2023 at the house of Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi.
