Seydi Diamil NIANE is a devout Muslim and scholar who advocates for coexistence amongst other religions. He was born in 1991 in Senegal and graduated from the University of Strasbourg where he obtained a master’s degree in Arabic studies as well as a master’s degree in Islamology, law, and management. At the moment he is preparing a doctoral thesis at the same University under the supervision of Éric Geoffroy.

In November 2017, after having obtained my doctorate at the University of Strasbourg two months earlier, I returned to Senegal at the request of my friend and big brother Bakary Sambe who had then befriended me to join the Timbuktu Institute . as a researcher. Shortly after my installation, I received a call from Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Sy who introduced me to the Unitary Framework of Islam in Senegal and asked me to join him as permanent secretary in order to support the secretary-general DrCheikh Guèye .

Having become an employee of the Cadre for a year, I had the heavy and noble task of coordinating the production of a collection of texts on peace and living together in Senegal based on the writings of Senegalese religious figures. All the scientific committees of the Sufi brotherhoods and Islamic associations were associated with it. We even have a section on the contribution of Senegalese Christian thinkers to the theorization of living together in the country. The collection should be distributed shortly and we will fight for its teachings to be integrated into the education system in Senegal.
