Who Is T. D. Jakes?

T. D. Jakes ( Thomas Dexter Jakes Sr) is an American author, bishop, and filmmaker. In addition, he is the bishop of The Potter’s House, which is a non-denominational American megachurch. His services and evangelical sermons are aired on The Potter’s Touch.

At the age of 25, in 1982 he became a pastor of Greater Emanuel Temple of Faith, a storefront church in Smithers West Virginia. The church had only ten members. Jakes became a member of Bishop Sherman Watkins’ Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies in 1988. After that, he relocated to South Charleston, West Virginia, in 1990. After he relocated his members increased to 300 people. However, after three years he relocated to Cross Lanes, West Virginia, in 1993.

Furthermore, he founded ” TDJ Enterprises” in 1995. The Enterprises publishes Jake’s book and produces his films. In 1995, he began hosting “Get Ready,” a weekly radio and TV show with national distribution through syndication. Furthermore, Jakes went ahead and founded The Potter’s House, a non-denominational church in Dallas, Texas, in 1996. The Potter’s House, which is on a 34-acre hilltop site, has a 5,000-seat theater as well as offices for employees and personnel.
